…. Aitingen pump!
𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲!
Our Electric Submersible Pump, installed on January 17, 2020, today completes its fifth year of service producing hydrocarbons in Aitingen, Germany.
𝗥𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁
Originally designed to be operated within a certain flow range the pump is running at full speed since its commissioning. Running day and night without any maintenance at all our submersible pump has reliably and cost efficiently lifted to the surface an estimated volume of over 100,000 cubic meters of fluid. During this time period the pump’s shaft has performed more than 8,000,000,000 (!) turns and continues running.

Long equipment life is the result of a favorable combination of several factors. Some of the factors are determined by well characteristics and are often beyond the control of an ESP supplier. The only option to maximize pump life is to design the pump for these conditions and work with the customer on its operation.
𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗶𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗼𝗿 𝗱𝗼𝗻’𝘁 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗶𝘁 𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗹𝗹
Excellent pump design involves gathering and analyzing information, determining a possible or desired production range, proper pump selection and design, correct motor and protector sizing, optimal selection of alloys and elastomers not only for the pump itself but also for other components such as the power cable.

The downhole part of the equipment must also match the surface equipment if already existing on site or a proper surface equipment must be chosen and provided.
𝗤𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗹𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗽𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗼𝗳𝗳
Strict quality management along the supply chain, during manufacturing of components and later during assembly of each individual piece of equipment is essential. Sophisticated performance testing, handling, packaging, storage, even transportation to the well site and, ultimately, installation of the pumping equipment are amongst the most important factors determining the service life of a ESP.
𝗢𝗯𝘀𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗲
Because small mistakes can lead to costly premature failures, professional education and specialization, experience, and proven processes based on years of continuous improvement are key.
𝗥𝘂𝗻 𝗶𝘁 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗹𝘆
Last but not least, modern equipment monitoring and competent operation, ideally carried out in consultation with the customer, have a significant impact on the service life of equipment.
